About

Born in Brierley Hill, West Midlands in 1948, my working life was spent teaching in comprehensive schools across the region.  Largely self taught, my introduction to pottery came through evening classes and  I eventually established my own studio at home.  Since retiring from teaching in 2005, I have devoted time to developing a range of ceramics.

In 2012 I was elected to the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists as an associate member and elected as a full member in 2015. I regularly exhibit work at the RBSA Birmingham Gallery located in the Jewellery Quarter.

My present output centres on medium and large scale pit fired ceramics and raku fired vessels and jewellery.  In addition I produce a number of stoneware functional pots.

All my work is hand built using coils of clay, which are then worked on to achieve the final effect.  My aim is to create beauty in form with attention to balance and harmony in the materials used.  The end product is an object functional or decorative that explores form whilst being contemporary in design.
